Lorraine Kelly Laughs Off Piers Morgan’s Latest Esther McVey Jibe

Lorraine Kelly has laughed off Piers Morgan’s latest dig at her supposed feud with presenter-turned-MP Esther McVey.

Last week, many picked up on the fact that Lorraine had a rather frosty reception when she was reintroduced to McVey during a live link on Good Morning Britain.

While McVey later suggested this was down to internal politics from when they both worked at GMTV, Lorraine said she simply disagrees with the Tory MP’s beliefs, specifically those relating to the LGBTQ+ community.

On Wednesday morning, Lorraine spoke to Piers and Susanna Reid over videolink about their upcoming trip to Ascot.

I’m not invited! Never invited to anything, no,” Lorraine joked, before adding: “Tell me what it’s like, bring me back a sandwich.”

When Piers commented that Lorraine could follow the action on social media, she responded: “Maybe I’ll get invited next year and we can all go together.”

Piers then said, referencing last week’s awkwardness: “I would have taken you as my guest if you hadn’t been so rude about me on national television. No, I’m going to take Esther McVey instead.”

Fortunately, Lorraine saw the funny side, branding Piers a “minx”, even if Susanna Reid was left cringing behind her papers as she sat next to him.

Lorraine recently wrote about the McVey saga in her newspaper column, saying: “I genuinely don’t remember her. We may have shared a tiny converted portakabin to change into our TV outfits but by the time I came in, she was already on air, so we simply didn’t meet.

“My terse reaction had nothing to do with Esther McVey the TV presenter and everything to do with Miss McVey the politician.”

Good Morning Britain airs every weekday from 6am on ITV.
