Ariana Grande has heaped praise on RuPaul’s Drag Race star Tatianna, following the drag queen’s impersonation of her in Taylor Swift’s new music video.
The chart-topping singer is one of a number of celebrities who are impersonated in Taylor’s You Need To Calm Down video – alongside Cardi B, Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj – with most of them being portrayed by former Drag Race contestants.
Sharing a photo of Tatianna in character on her Instagram story, Ariana wrote: “Ty for having me in your video I was amazing @taylorswift… jk @tatiannagram you fucking killed it, beauty.
“Love u & am honoured.”
Tatianna originally finished in fourth place on the second series of RuPaul’s Drag Race, but more recently won over a new legion of fans during the show’s second All Stars run.
During All Stars 2, Tatianna made a decidedly less successful attempt at impersonating Ariana during the Snatch Game challenge, which ended up seeing her sent home.
In her Instagram post Ariana also sent a message to Taylor Swift, praising her new song and video’s pro-LGBTQ+ themes, writing: “Congrats on YNTCD I fucking love it and the message soooooo much.”
As well as a line-up of Drag Race queens, and RuPaul herself, the You Need To Calm Down music video is far from shot on celebrity cameos, with the Queer Eye Fab Five, Orange Is The New Black star Laverne Cox and even Taylor’s old foe Katy Perry all putting in appearances.
