We’re currently in those dark days between series of RuPaul’s Drag Race, but while we wait eagerly for the upcoming UK version of our favourite reality show, the drag gods have bestowed some news upon us.
According to reports, Drag Race staple Michelle Visage could well be signing up for this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing.
The Sun has claimed that Strictly bosses are “set to sign Michelle” for the upcoming run, in what they’re billing as an attempt to pull in millennial viewers who are already fans of Drag Race.
We’re very excited at the prospect of the Michelle hitting the Strictly dance floor, and it turns out we’re not the only ones…
Michelle has been friends with RuPaul for many years, and joined the Drag Race judging panel in its third series, remaining with the show ever since.
Her popularity went on to land her a place in the Celebrity Big Brother house in 2015, in which she finished in fifth place in what was one of the show’s most controversial series ever. She’s also a judge on Ireland’s Got Talent.
Earlier this year, it was confirmed that both RuPaul and Michelle – a self-professed anglophile – would be heading across the pond for the much-awaited British version of Drag Race.
Filming is now complete on the series, which debuts on BBC Three later this year, with Alan Carr and Graham Norton both also serving as judges.
Her rumoured Strictly appearance comes after the success of former Drag Race finalist Courtney Act on the Australian version of the show.
Other stars who have been linked with this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing include broadcaster Fearne Cotton, former Love Island winner Amber Davies and BBC newsreader Huw Edwards.
