Peggy Lipton Dead: Twin Peaks And Mod Squad Actress Dies, Aged 72

Peggy Lipton, best known for her roles in Twin Peaks and The Mod Squad has died at the age of 72.

The actress’s family confirmed she passed away on Saturday after suffering from cancer.

In a statement. Peggy’s daughters, actress’s Rashida and Kidada Jones said: “We are heartbroken that our beloved mother passed away from cancer today.

“She made her journey peacefully with her daughters and nieces by her side. We feel so lucky for every moment we spent with her.

“We can’t put all of our feelings into words right now but we will say: Peggy was, and will always be our beacon of light, both in this world and beyond. She will always be a part of us. ’We ask that you respect our family’s privacy.”

Peggy was best known for her role as Julia Barnes in the 1960s police drama The Mod Squad, which earned her a Golden Globe award for Best Actress in a Television Series Drama.

The actress also earned four Emmy nominations for her role in the series, which she starred in from 1968 until 1973.

She was also known for her role as Double R Diner owner Norma Jennings in Twin Peaks. She revived the role when the series returned in 2017.

Peggy started off as a teenage model before landing her first TV role aged 19. She also landed roles in Bewitched and The Alfred Hitchcock Hour.

Peggy married legendary music producer Quincy Jones, who helmed Michael Jackson’s Thriller album, in 1974 and had daughters Rashida, and Kidada, before the couple divorce in 1990.
