Piers Morgan’s mansplaining came back to bite him on the bum on Wednesday’s Good Morning Britain – or rather hit him in the stomach.
After previously stating that childbirth couldn’t be as hard as it looked *sigh*, Piers agreed to be hooked up to a contraption that replicates the pain women suffer during labour and childbirth.
Funnily enough, it didn’t go well…
The machine’s operator, Stefan from the Netherlands, was seen putting pads onto Piers’ stomach before gradually cranking up the level of pain – much to his co-hosts Susanna Reid and Kate Garraway’s delight.
Before he’d even reached full throttle (childbirth), the simulated contractions proved too much for the 54-year-old presenter who threw in the towel when the machine was up to level 50, not even close to childbirth pain.
Co-host Kate revealed she reached level 65, which she described as “early contractions”, adding you had to go up to 100 to experience birth pains.
After his ordeal Piers said: “That cannot be what childbirth is like, really. I can’t believe that.
“Is that really what childbirth is like?”
He then added: “On balance, for the women of Great Britain, I probably owe you a slight apology.
“I’m very glad that we don’t have to go through this. I’ve got to say, that was agony. If that is what you honestly go through then my respect for women in terms of childbirth has gone through the roof.
“That was painful. I’m never again going to joke about childbirth.”
But it didn’t take long for Piers to defend himself against accusations that he was “too weak for childbirth”, tweeting that he was “deprived of any gas/air or epidural”.
