While other British newspapers were whipped into a frenzy by the birth of the new royal baby, the Daily Star has won some fans by being unusually sarcastic about it.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced the birth of their baby boy who arrived at 5.26am on Monday, weighing 7lb 3oz.
In sharp contrast to other tabloids, the newspaper chose not to use a picture of gushing Prince Harry on the front page of Monday’s edition, instead marking the event with a banner that read “American actress has baby”.
“If you really don’t care read pages 1-6 and 8-48,” it advised, suggesting that the paper carried just one page of royal baby coverage.
Several people shared praise for the move on social media.
The editorial decision is in sharp contrast to the Daily Mail which boasted of 23 pages of “unrivalled” pictures and reports, which is a feat in itself given no pictures of the new baby have been released yet.
The new baby hasn’t been named but Albert, Arthur, Alexander and James are favourites, according to Ladbrokes.
