Adele Says The Last Year Has ‘Tried Me So Hard’ As She Rings In 31st Birthday

Adele has marked her 31st birthday by admitting the year in which she split with her husband “tried me so hard”.

The singer announced she had separated from Simon Konecki after a two-year marriage last month, and alluded to the split as she turned 31 on Sunday.

In a post on Instagram, Adele said that she had “changed drastically in the last couple years”, joking she would be recording a drum and bass record to “spite” the difficult 12 months she’s had.

Alongside photos showing her celebrating her birthday with a party, Adele wrote: “This is 31… thank fucking god.

“30 tried me so hard but I’m owning it and trying my hardest to lean in to it all.

“No matter how long we’re here for life is constant and complicated at times.

“I’ve changed drastically in the last couple years and I’m still changing and that’s okay.”

She continued: “31 is going to be a big ol’ year and I’m going to spend it all on myself.

“For the first time in a decade I’m ready to feel the world around me and look up for once.

“Be kind to yourself people we’re only human, go slow, put your phone down and laugh out loud at every opportunity.

“Learning to REALLY truly love yourself is it, and I’ve only just realized that that is more than enough.

“I’ll learn to love you lot eventually. Bunch of fucking savages, 30 will be a drum n bass record to spite you.

“Chin up eh.”

Adele with ex-husband Simon Konecki

Adele and charity entrepreneur Simon Konecki started dating in 2011 and welcomed a son, Angelo, in 2012, before marrying in 2016

Adele’s representatives put out a statement concerning her separation from Konecki on April 20.

“They are committed to raising their son together lovingly,” the statement read. “As always they ask for privacy. There will be no further comment.”

She later alluded to the split with a meme she posted on Instagram, with two pictures of herself alongside the caption: “When you catch yourself in your feelings then remember who you are.”
