She might not have shown up to this year’s Grammys in the end, but that didn’t stop Ariana Grande from having her red carpet moment.
Y’know, despite not actually making it to the red carpet.
Ariana was nominated for two awards at this year’s ceremony for her recent Sweetener album, but ultimately opted out of putting in an appearance on the night after a much-publicised row with producers about what she would be performing.
However, on the big night, she revealed that she’d decided to do a full glam look anyway, posting photos of herself on social media lying around in a Cinderella-esque gown.
In missing the show, Ariana was also absent for winning her second ever Grammy award, picking up Best Pop Vocal Album for Sweetener, her fourth album which was released last year.
When she was revealed as the winner, Ariana tweeted a simple expletive, before posting her own version of an acceptance speech on her Twitter account.
“I know i’m not there tonight (trust, i tried and still truly wished it had worked out tbh),” she wrote. “And i know i said i try not to put too much weight into these things …. but fuck ……. this is wild and beautiful. thank you so much.”
After giving a shout-out to the co-writers and producers who worked on Sweetener, Ariana said to her fans and followers: “But mostly thank y’all for being my main source of joy and inspiration always.”
Ariana previously said she’d chosen not to attend as she felt her “creativity and self expression” were being “stifled” by the night’s organisers, as they put plans together for her performance.
Since Sweetener’s release last year, Ariana unveiled her second album in six months earlier this week, named after its chart-topping lead single Thank U, Next.
