Police have charged a man with murder following the fatal stabbing of a mother.
Ricardo Godinho, 41, was on Sunday charged with killing 39-year-old Aliny Mendes who was attacked in a street in Ewell at about 3pm on Friday, Surrey Police said.
Godinho, of Kingston Road, Epsom, will appear in Staines Magistrates’ Court on Monday, the force added.
Officers also announced that the matter has been referred to the police watchdog, the Independent Office of Police Conduct.
Police said Mendes was on a road near the junction of Sparrow Farm Road and London Road when a man got out of a car and stabbed her.
Mendes was described as a “caring mother” with a “wonderful heart” by friends and family.
An online fundraiser pledging to support Mendes’s children and repatriate her body to Brazil had nearly hit its £40,000 target on Sunday evening.
