Drones Are A Dangerous Nuisance In Inexperienced Hands, Just Ask This Cyclist

Drones can be great fun, and in the right hands they can even become truly powerful filming tools.

In the wrong hands (a rookie) however a drone is essentially a fast-moving projectile that’s just begging to crash itself in the sea or clobber someone over the head.

One poor cyclist in Northern California learnt this lesson first hand after his bike became the prime target for an entirely out of control drone.

Having initially been tasked with filming the Golden State Race Series it seems the drone took on a life of its own and went crashing down into the cyclist’s rear wheels.

After a small but significant explosion in which it looked as though the cyclist had prevailed by shattering the drone it looks as though one part became lodged, locking the wheels and sending the helpless rider flying over his own handlebars.

At this point, it’s very plausible that you may well have seen someone rather hastily leaving the scene of the incident, remote control in hand.

Well you’d actually be wrong. According to Storyful, the drone pilot actually rushed forward to claim responsibility for the accident and even offered to buy the cyclist a new bike.
